STEAM is an educational approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking. The end results are students who take thoughtful risks, engage in experiential learning, persist in problem-solving, embrace collaboration, and work through the creative process.

The topic: Marine Biology. The method: Inquiry. Under the direction of the middle school science teacher, Karen Seal, the seventh grade students worked to create inquiry-based lessons which included the creative process and fostered collaboration with the first grade students.

In connection to these lessons, Marine Biomes visited and introduced the 2st & 7th grade students to various marine creatures. Students held, observed, and made predictions about these creatures.
Here's to inquiry!
