ATHLETICS

St. Pius V School Soccer

St. Pius V School Volleyball

St. Pius V Church's Athletic Association organizes all athletic programming for St. Pius V School. Students are invited to participate in the following sports:

  • Cross country - Fall

  • Tennis - Fall

  • Basketball and competitive basketball - Winter

  • Soccer - Spring

  • Volleyball - Spring

As a Catholic school, we strive to form the whole person. Because sports require students to exercise responsibility, teamwork, charity, and perseverance, the athletic program provides a powerful opportunity to foster the child’s moral development and to nourish the child’s growth in virtue. As students grow in excellence on the field, they strengthen their ability to choose the good off the field.

We are grateful for our dedicated group of volunteers who coach and train our athletes. We are always looking for more volunteers to help with the following duties: coaching, assistant coaching, serving on concession or security duty, fundraising, and attending athletic association meetings.

Please reach out to athletics@spvchurch.org for more information on athletics and volunteer opportunities.

OUR MASCOT, THE FIREDOG

Dog holding a torch clip art

According to tradition, the mother of St. Dominic, Bl. Jane of Aza, had a dream before her son’s conception of a hound racing through the world igniting everything with a flaming torch. Although she was initially troubled by this dream, it proved prophetic in a miraculous way. Her child, St. Dominic, ignited the world with sacred truth through his preaching and teaching born from a life of dedicated prayer, love for the Word of God, and a burning desire to gain souls for Christ.
