8th Grader Graduates as Young Marine

Bryan Fana-Ruiz, an 8th grader at St. Pius V School, joined the Rhode Island Young Marines in November 2017 as a shy quiet boy who was content to sit in the background and observe.

In the last two and a half years, Bryan has matured into a bright vibrant member of the Young Marines organization. Always willing to accomplish whatever tasks he is given whether just helping out or taking charge of other Young Marines, Bryan always gets the job done.

Bryan has participated in hundreds of community services hours working with homeless veterans, the Providence VA Hospital, the State Veterans Hospital, soup kitchens and many other community organizations not to mention the many parades and award events over the years.

This accomplished Young Marine has learned both basic and advanced first aid, CPR, gun safety, proper physical fitness and continues to receive Drug Demand Reduction classes every month.

I am proud to say that Bryan's greatest accomplishment is learning how to be not only a valuable team member but also a responsible and effective team leader. Watching Bryan grow into such a fine and respectable young man has been a privilege and is a direct reflection of not only his hard work but also the love and support he receives from his family and all the other wonderful people he has in his life.
