Our Lady of the Rosary by Jelena, Kaiden, and Josiah
Our Lady of the Rosary plays a big part in our school. Her feast day is celebrated on October 7. In 1571, the Battle of Lepanto took place between Christian forces and the Ottoman Turks. The Turks were much more powerful than the Christians, and the chances of them winning were very low. Pope Pius V prayed to Our Lady for victory and peace. He asked all the Christians to say the Rosary in order for them to win the war. The Christians miraculously won the battle against the Ottoman forces. The power of God can overcome even the strongest armies. St. Pius V is our school patron, so we honor Our Lady every year by doing a rosary procession on October 7. This year, our rosary procession was led by Father Carroll and the altar servers. Our choir elective led us in singing songs of praise to Our Lady, and the eighth grade led the five decades of the rosary. May Our Lady continue to watch over our school and parish.
